Anastasia Bukhman

Anastasia Bukhman is an entrepreneur and philanthropist in London who co-founded the Bukhman Foundation, which champions type 1 diabetes research alongside arts and culture. In May 2025 the foundation announced a ten-year commitment of £100 million to accelerate T1D research and treatment. Initial funding went to a University of Cambridge study of viral triggers led through Diabetes UK. It also backs gene-edited, lab-grown islet work at the Breakthrough T1D Barbara Dewey Cammett Center of Excellence in New England. A £10 million gift from the foundation later established the Bukhman Centre for Research Excellence in Type 1 Diabetes at the University of Oxford, funding new academic posts and scholarships. The commitment is personal, rooted in lived experience with type 1 diabetes in her family. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of the South London Gallery.
