Beyond Type 1
Beyond Type 1 is a global diabetes nonprofit co-founded in 2015 by Nick Jonas, Juliet De Baubigny, and others personally connected to the disease. It now reaches a community it counts at more than a million people in English and Spanish. It publishes education and personal storytelling and runs member apps for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Its GetInsulin.org tool routes people who cannot afford or find insulin to the program that fits their situation. It also gives money away, through Beyond Scholars college scholarships of 10,000 dollars and Innovation Accelerator grants of up to 50,000 dollars. In June 2017 it became the new home of the TuDiabetes and EsTuDiabetes communities when the Diabetes Hands Foundation wound down. It is led by chief executive Simone Grapini-Goodman and is not type 1 exclusive, since Beyond Type 2 serves people with type 2 diabetes through the same organization.
