Children with Diabetes

Children with Diabetes launched in 1995 when Jeff and Brenda Hitchcock built a website so their daughter could meet other children with type 1 diabetes, and it now supports the whole family, adults included. Its flagship is the Friends for Life conference, first held in Orlando in 2000 with 110 families, about 550 people, and run annually since. Year round it publishes the Weekly Diabetes newsletter and runs CWD Answers, the clinician-answered question service formerly called Ask the Diabetes Team, which has fielded more than 35,000 questions. The organization was part of the Johnson and Johnson family of companies from 2008 until December 2013, then became independent and received 501c3 charity status on August 29, 2014.
