CRISPR Therapeutics
CRISPR Therapeutics, trading on NASDAQ under CRSP, is a gene-editing company best known for Casgevy, the approved sickle-cell and beta-thalassemia therapy. Through a collaboration with ViaCyte it developed CRISPR-edited, immune-evasive, stem-cell-derived pancreatic islets, the VCTX210, VCTX211, and VCTX212 programs. The programs are intended to treat type 1 diabetes without chronic immunosuppression. CRISPR Therapeutics took full control of the work after Vertex acquired ViaCyte in 2022. Diabetes is one of several disease areas in its broader cell- and gene-therapy pipeline.
