Instituto da Criança com Diabetes
The Instituto da Criança com Diabetes is a nonprofit that provides free, interdisciplinary care to more than 5,000 children and young people with type 1 diabetes. It combines endocrinology and allied health with extensive social support and a continuing diabetes-education program. Founded in 1998, it has become a reference center for T1D in Brazil and Latin America. It reports a 94 percent reduction in hospital admissions among its patients, and it is dedicated exclusively to type 1 diabetes in children and youth.
