International Chinese Stem Cell Foundation
The International Chinese Stem Cell Foundation was set up in 2011 as a nonprofit, non-political organization of professionals working to improve health through stem cell research and regenerative medicine. It provides a network for collaboration among ethnic Chinese stem cell researchers and entrepreneurs. It also promotes stem cell research and education worldwide and assists regulatory agencies and policy makers in setting rules for stem cell therapies. It has been tax exempt as a 501c3 medical research nonprofit since 2014 under its registered name, the Chinese Stem Cell Foundation. The foundation remains active, convening receptions at International Society for Stem Cell Research annual meetings, including meetings in Hong Kong and Montreal. Its scope spans stem cell medicine broadly; diabetes is a named focus area, with stem cells presented as a source of insulin-producing cells that could restore glucose-responsive secretion.
