Jay Eastman
Jay Eastman is chair of the board of the T1D Fund, the venture philanthropy fund launched in 2016 as the first scaled venture fund for cure-oriented type 1 diabetes therapies. Now operating as a Breakthrough T1D venture, the Fund makes equity investments in early-stage companies. In that role he directs how it co-invests philanthropic capital alongside venture capital and biopharma partners into companies pursuing T1D treatments, prevention, and cures. Proceeds from successful exits are redeployed into new investments. In 2025 he announced a new capital raise intended to enable larger, higher-conviction investments in promising T1D companies. He describes the Fund as having far surpassed its founders' initial expectations in bridging gaps in T1D drug development.
