Juvenile Diabetes Cure Alliance
The Juvenile Diabetes Cure Alliance is a donor-funded watchdog founded in 2011 by Brian Kelly. It advocates for a near-term Practical Cure for type 1 diabetes, meaning a solution that lets people live largely as if they did not have the disease. Rather than funding research itself, the JDCA analyzes independently how major diabetes nonprofits raise and spend money. It publishes critical reports and annual reviews of funders such as Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) and the T1D Fund. The aim of that scrutiny is to push philanthropy toward cure-focused outcomes.
