Orizuru Therapeutics

Orizuru is developing OZTx-410, an allogeneic iPSC-derived islet product for people with insulin-deficient type 1 diabetes at high risk of severe hypoglycemia. The cells are differentiated into beta cells and other endocrine cell types, then processed into transplantable sheets. An investigator-initiated Phase 1/1b trial at Kyoto University Hospital performed its first transplant in early 2025. The trial pairs the cells with immunosuppression and evaluates safety over a one-year primary period. Spun out of the Takeda and Kyoto University T-CiRA program, Orizuru is an iPSC-focused regenerative-medicine company for which T1D is the flagship program.
