Dr. Patricia Beaston, MD/PhD
Dr. Patricia Beaston is a regulatory and drug-development advisor at Kinexum who served 24 years as a medical officer at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. She began in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, assessing endocrine drug products. She moved to the Center for Devices and Radiological Health to advise on endocrine diagnostic, software, drug-delivery, and combination products. She completed her service in the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, reviewing islet transplantation, immune modulation in type 1 diabetes, and xenotransplantation. She earned a PhD in anatomy and neurobiology and an MD from the Medical College of Pennsylvania, where she also trained in internal medicine. She was then a fellow in diabetes, endocrinology, and metabolism at Penn State Hershey. She now advises cell- and gene-therapy developers on the regulatory path for type 1 diabetes therapies.
