Dr. Patrick Ngassa Piotie, MD/PhD
Dr. Patrick Ngassa Piotie is chairperson of the Diabetes Alliance South Africa and co-founder of the University of Pretoria Diabetes Research Centre, where he co-leads the Mental Health and Well-being Cluster. He convenes the South African Diabetes Summit and drives the buildout of the Alliance's provincial chapters. He currently oversees the South Africa Type 1 Diabetes Burden Study in partnership with leading academic institutions. He is a Kofi Annan Fellow in Global Health Leadership, a World Heart Federation Emerging Leader, and an IDF Senior Fellow. He brings a systems lens to diabetes prevention and care, bridging evidence, lived experience, and institutional change.
