Thomas Bollenbach, PhD
Thomas Bollenbach, PhD, is chief technology officer of the Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute and its BioFabUSA program in Manchester, New Hampshire. The public-private effort builds the automated, GMP-ready manufacturing infrastructure that engineered tissues and cell therapies need to reach patients at scale. Before ARMI he was vice president of research and development at Harvard Apparatus Regenerative Technology, where he led preclinical development of stem cell and biomaterial based tracheal, bronchial, and esophageal implants. Earlier, at Organogenesis, he led development of a living bioengineered skin graft. He holds a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Notre Dame and completed postdoctoral research at Cornell. His manufacturing-sciences work targets the reproducibility bottleneck that stands between islet replacement products for type 1 diabetes and routine clinical supply.
