Aaron Kowalski, PhD

Aaron J. Kowalski, PhD, is the chief executive officer of Breakthrough T1D, the global type 1 diabetes research and advocacy organization formerly known as JDRF. He joined the organization in 2004 and became CEO in 2019. As a scientist he helped accelerate artificial pancreas systems and expand access to continuous glucose monitoring, and his publications advanced standards of care. He has lived with type 1 diabetes for more than 35 years, and he sits on the board of the T1D Fund. His PhD in microbiology and molecular genetics is from Rutgers University.
