Betalin Therapeutics

Betalin Therapeutics is developing the engineered micro-pancreas, a transplantable insulin-producing tissue built by seeding stem cell-derived islets onto a supportive scaffold. Its core technology, the micro-organ matrix, helps restore the extracellular support isolated islets lose, the gap behind the 70 percent of transplanted islets that fail to engraft. The program is preclinical and targets type 1 diabetes, where the company holds that glucose monitors and insulin pumps cannot reproduce the fine-tuned glucose sensing of healthy islets.
