Lucio Iannone, PhD

Lucio Iannone, PhD, is a managing director at the T1D Fund, the Boston-based venture philanthropy arm of Breakthrough T1D. He is a healthcare investor with more than 15 years across venture capital, board leadership, and biotechnology, and he now backs companies pursuing type 1 diabetes cures. Before joining the T1D Fund he was head of health investments at Leaps by Bayer. There he led the global investment team and directed deal execution across a portfolio with more than one billion dollars under management. He has served on the boards of over eighteen companies, with expertise in molecular biology and cell and gene therapy across oncology, autoimmune disease, and cardiovascular health. He earned his PhD in medicine from Imperial College London.
