Sylvia Tobé, PhD

Sylvia Tobé, PhD, is a managing director at the T1D Fund, the Boston-based venture philanthropy arm of Breakthrough T1D. She brings more than a decade across venture investing, company creation, and translational science to funding companies pursuing type 1 diabetes cures and disease-modifying therapies. She sits on the boards of DiogenX, ZagBio, and Islex Therapeutics, and she has held board observer roles at Zucara Therapeutics, Vanqua Bio, and Rectify Pharma. Before the T1D Fund she was a principal at Omega Funds, working on early-stage investments and company formation across neurology, immunology, and rare diseases. Earlier she spent nearly seven years at Ra Pharmaceuticals, helping build the preclinical and translational models behind first-in-human studies of its lead program Zilucoplan. She earned a PhD in biochemistry from Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris while a visiting fellow in genetics at Harvard.
