Carole Welsch, PhD
Carole Welsch, PhD, is chief operating officer and a co-founder of Seraxis, which is developing an off-the-shelf stem-cell-derived islet replacement therapy for insulin-requiring diabetes. She oversees the company's operations. Before Seraxis she held roles of increasing responsibility at Novartis, Vanda Pharmaceuticals, and QIAGEN, leading marketing, medical, and business development teams across oncology, central nervous system disorders, and metabolic diseases. Seraxis was launched around its SR-01 stem cell line and pancreas-organoid technology aimed at type 1 diabetes. She holds a PhD in molecular biology from University Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg and completed a fellowship at the National Cancer Centre of Singapore.
