Will Rust, PhD, is president and chief executive of Seraxis, the regenerative medicine company developing off-the-shelf stem cell-derived islet replacement therapy for insulin-dependent diabetes. Its lead candidate, SR-02, is built from pancreatic endocrine cell clusters manufactured at clinical scale from a proprietary, non-pluripotent stem cell line. He positions it as one of the field's first clinical-stage stem cell-derived islet programs. He is also advancing the follow-on, immune-cloaked SR-03 line, aimed at a functional cure that would not require lifelong immune suppression.
