Kfir Molakandov, PhD

Kfir Molakandov, PhD, is vice president of research and development at NewcelX. He leads the team turning pluripotent stem cells into transplantable islets, the science behind the IsletRx program for type 1 diabetes. Working from the Nes Ziona laboratories of Kadimastem, now a wholly owned subsidiary, his group built a scalable production protocol and characterized every stage of differentiation. He began his career studying the conversion of liver into pancreas and trained for his doctorate at the Gene Therapy Center in Alabama. He is first author of the peer reviewed study behind the company's method for selecting therapeutic cells from stem cell-derived clusters.
