Helmsley Charitable Trust

The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust is one of the largest private foundations in the United States, holding roughly 7 billion dollars in assets. It awards grants across type 1 diabetes and other focus areas. Funded by the estate of Leona Helmsley, it began active grantmaking in 2009. It has since committed more than 1.1 billion dollars to type 1 diabetes, which makes it one of the field's largest private funders. The trust takes bold, informed risks on new therapies, technology, and equitable access. Its grantees include Blue Circle Health and the T1D Exchange, and its T1D program is guided by trustee David Panzirer. The trust works to help people with T1D live safer, healthier lives today while funding advances toward prevention and cure.
